BCB to pay foreign cricketers soon

The International Cricketers' Association (FICA) has called on the ICC to monitor six leagues, alleging that foreign cricketers playing in franchise leagues are not paid properly. Bangladesh Premier League-BPLO is among the 6 leagues listed. Within a day of being charged, the BCB promised to pay the foreign cricketers.

BCB chief executive Nizamuddin Chowdhury Sujan has admitted to India-based cricket media Cricinfo that the salaries of cricketers in the BPL are outstanding.

"It's a big concern for the BCB," he said. We are taking the matter very seriously as the responsibility falls on the shoulders of the BCB as well. We have learned that some franchises have not paid their cricketers in full. The agents of the cricketers have repeatedly asked us about this. We are trying to find out the exact figure by talking to both the cricketer and the franchise. We will then take action against franchisees who have not paid.

It is learned that in the 2018-19 BPL, the Sylhet Sixers did not pay the full amount of West Indies batsman Nicholas Puran and Afghanistan cricketer Gulbadin Naib. Although he was supposed to pay 35,000 dollars (excluding tax) to Puran, he got only 10,000 dollars. On the other hand, the entire হাজার 32,000 is left to Naib. In this situation, they have repeatedly contacted the franchise and the BCB.

After the remaining payments in the previous few seasons, the BCB organized the BPL last season with full funding and supervision. The BCB chief executive said the full amount of the last event had been paid, adding that it was a bit late, but we had paid all the money for the last event.

FICA has recently submitted a list to the ICC alleging that cricketers playing in various franchise leagues are not paid on time. According to the survey, one-third of cricketers playing in these leagues do not get paid on time.

The report further said that in recent times, players in 8 leagues have been facing salary problems. The list includes only the BPL among the full members of the ICC. The other five tournaments are the Global T20 League of Canada, the Abu Dhabi T20, the Euro T20 Slam, the Qatar T20 and the Master Champions League.

FICA has appealed to the ICC to resolve this issue of remuneration. The cricketers' interest group is not giving up on the issue of remuneration. They are waiting for a positive decision soon.

FICA chief executive Tom Moffat said Monday (August 3rd) that players do not just play to satisfy their hunger. They also have to run their lives. Quickly, players need to identify breaches of contract and non-payment of fees. We urge the ICC to take appropriate action in this regard.

BCB has woken up after the Fikar report!
